Why does this list shows this poster nic as email protected when in fact is not?

This statatement will only give poster a false impression of security.

Of course, it is not a good idea to post your email on any forum, let alone use it as a nic.

The email address shows in my browser. I've never seen the "email protected" label before.

It's because the user used his or her E-Mail address as their UserID; the intent behind the [email protected] link is to make it a bit more difficult for web crawlers to scrape the address.

Oh, so in the "active topic" list, it removes the email, but nowhere else?

Believe me, web crawlers have no problem collecting that email, not at all.

Easy to test, test it and you'll see.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just the messenger here. If I am not mistaken, this was someone's brilliant idea over at vBulletin.

I'm assuming this is to protect the user's email from outside spam and guests that are viewing the forum.
Not sure why the email was put as their username in the first place.
I will reach out to the user and get this resolved.

Not likely a valid personal e-mail address or maybe it's a strategy.
