  1. What's the mileage on your 5th generation?

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
2014, 111,000 miles, no issues other than my wife bumping into things with it and once someone wiping out the front bumper when it was parked at the grocery store.
  2. K&N Oil Filter

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
K&N generally touts flow over filtration, whether it's their air or oil filters. Their filter media is synthetic however, so the porosity is uniform where paper media is random (just due to how paper is made). Possibly they get by with less pleats for that reason, I don't know. I change the...
  3. K&N Oil Filter

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
Normally I use a Mopar oil filter but I stopped at Walmart yesterday for oil and a filter and surprisingly the K&N was $1.33 less than the Mopar filter. Just an FYI.
  4. Tire Recommendations?

    4th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2001-2007
Yokohama AVID Ascend. Had a couple sets on different cars in my family. Great in rain, quiet, and wear like iron.
  5. Rear A/C issues, 2013 Town & Country

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
The blower running only on high is probably caused by a failed blower motor resistor. Electric motors really have only one speed (high) and you use a resistor to slow them down to different speeds. Had the same problem on my daughter's old Jeep and just this weekend on my Explorer. Blower...
  6. No reverse when given throttle

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
When that happened on my Explorer it was because the reverse band was cracked. Had to rebuild the trans. Might be apples and oranges, but I'm just saying.
  7. Best tires??

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
Yokohama AVID Ascend. Dead quiet, great in rain, absolutely wear like iron, reasonable price. That said, if you look at the tread I wouldn't recommend them for snow but we have Blizzaks for the winter anyway. Had them on my wife's previous car, now the minivan, also my daughter's car. They...
  8. cabin filter

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
I thought all Gen 5's had one. Behind the glovebox door, not hard to change. Maybe put one in if yours doesn't have one.
  9. Coolant Change

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
Our 2014 T&C hit 100,000 miles recently. I was thinking about changing the coolant. Yes I know the owner's manual says to change it at 150,000. The manual makes it sound like the factory coolant is really special stuff. Do I really need that or is plain ol' green Prestone (that says it's...
  10. Attention Campers: RV Size 48" Wide Air Mattress that fits our vans?

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
We've used a Coleman inflatable mattress. Single sized, works well enough for long trips for someone to sleep on. They make a double but I'm not sure about the width.
  11. Bumper Repair

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
Backup camera works fine, as do all the mirrors and supposedly my wife's eyeballs. I did hit it with some rubbing compound too. Not gonna worry about a new bumper cover right now, it's probably just a matter of time until she hits something else. :nut:
  12. Bumper Repair

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
Took the wife's T&C to Ziebart for the annual rustproofing touchup. Lot was crowded so I parked in front of the business next door. She couldn't find a spot either and backed up across a wide open parking lot into my Sport Trac. The Trac had a small scratch on the bumper corner and...
  13. 5th gen owners, do you have any rust on your van?

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
We bought our '14 slightly used in the summer of 2015 and I took it to Ziebart before winter. The '07 T&C we had before exploded with rust the last year we owned it. Too bad because the interior was like new and it ran perfectly fine. I took my daughter's car to a different rustproofing place...
  14. Brake pad & rotor preferences

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
I don't know. I've always had good service from them though. The T&C is my wife's and she comes down the steep mile-plus long hill into our town from work five days a week without downshifting because "It might hurt the transmission". The NAPA Ultra rotors and ceramic pads are the only ones...
  15. Oil Change and Spare Tire

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
Exactly. I do believe that in modern engines with tighter tolerances you probably shouldn't run an oil that is heavier on the bottom end, like a 10w-30 when the motor calls for a 5w-30. But almmost everything I've found tells me that 5w-20 is spec'd simply for a miniscule improvement in fuel...
  16. Oil Change and Spare Tire

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
Changed the oil today. Decided to pull the spare tire out while it was on ramps to clean it and check the air since I hadn't done it for a while. Gawd what a pain in the neck, literally. I told the wife it was hard enough with it up on ramps and if you get a flat without me just call AAA...
  17. Brake pad & rotor preferences

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
NAPA Ultra Premium rotors and ceramic pads. The Ultra's are thicker and heavier, last longer, cost more but not an arm and a leg. Ceramic pads have good feel and leave very little dust.
  18. oil in radiator

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
My first thought was transmission fluid but you indicate that isn't possible. Presumably the trans cooler is separate from the radiator. My second thought is that the coolant is kind of pink anyway and maybe it needs changed. My third thought is that the shop is FOS and trying to rip off your...
  19. Primewell Valera tires traction issue...

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
Just keep them until they are relatively worn down and replace with something better. I've had good luck with Yokohamas, Firestones, and Bridgestones on my family's cars. To me Michelins are top of the line but they usually cost a lot more too.
  20. Can you disable the TPMS?

    5th. Generation Chrysler Minivans: 2008-2019
That's what I did on my Explorer. :) I got new sensors when I last got tires two years ago and the light is tripping already sometimes.
