  1. 2000 Voyager shipping weight?

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
The cost of registration may be lower than some places, but lets not get into what I'm paying for insurance in this crazy town.
  2. 2000 Voyager shipping weight?

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I just checked the door tag - and it only has the GVWR and the split GVWR front and rear. Alas.
  3. Anyone ever replaced the whole power-steering gear unit?

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
Advance Auto Parts lists a rebuilt rack (w/lifetime replacement warranty) for $200 + core. The OEM part lists (new, not rebuilt) at $500. I'm guessing that that's the difference. Of course, this doesn't answer your original question....
  4. 2000 Voyager shipping weight?

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I just got my notice for the state department of motor vehicles that my registration expires at the end of next month and that I own them a substantial sum of money if I want to keep my vehicle registered. $180, to be exact. This seemed high, even by Maryland standards. I checked their website...
  5. Solution for Serpentine Belt coming off

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
That's the easy way out. I've taken to just keeping a 15mm wrench in my glove box. Once you have the hang of getting the serpentine belt back on, it's only a couple minutes work. That said, when the current serpentine belt needs to be replaced, I'll give that a try.
  6. Can't get the tensioner off!

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
An easy way to get to it is with a 15 mm socket and an extension. To find the bolt, what I did was to put my left hand on the tensioner, so that I could guide the socket, held in my right hand, over to the bolt. I then used my left hand to hold it in place while I loosened the bolt. This might...
  7. How many miles should I replace Water Pump + Timing Belt

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I just did the timing belt in my 2000 Plymouth Voyager (3.0L) at 130K miles, which is really pushing it. There weren't any teeth missing and the belt looked otherwise fine, but at that point, it's just not worth pushing it. Figure that it'll take a day to do the job if you do it yourself...
  8. Do 2nd row captain's chairs fold flat?

    2nd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1991-1995
I'm strongly considering getting a 94 or 95 long wheel base Chrysler minivan in a year or two - I plan to do a lot of camping and it's just too hard to work with the interior of the '00 that I now have - oh, and 2 extra feet of space would be nice to work with. I have a question, though. Can...
  9. Spare Tire Trouble

Suspension, Brakes, Steering, Tires & Wheels
I had the same problem with my 1995 Voyager and my 2000 Voyager. The '95 was rusted in place, whereas on the 2000, there's a tab that seems to snap into place when you overtighten it (as a shop might tend to do if they pulled the spare back up using an impact wrench.) The only way I could...
  10. Sunroof?

    Chrysler Minivan Customized/Modified/Builds
I vaguely recall seeing a sunroof as a option in one of the schematics in my old Haynes manual. Of course, I'm sure that there are about 5 of those vans still extant with that option, and that OEM parts are impossible to find. I've been thinking about installing an aftermarket sunroof in my...
  11. Best mpg with a 3.0 / 3 speed?

    3.0L V6 Tech Talk
I've got the same engine, but in a 2000 Voyager. With the seams taped, and using the cruise at about 55, I was able to get 35 mpg without any trouble. I'd imagine that with tubbing the van, overinflating the tires, and driving more carefully, you should be able to do 40-45 mpg. The easiest...
  12. full size spare on 3rd gen?

Suspension, Brakes, Steering, Tires & Wheels
So what if it scrapes a little? I have a SWB G3 so I don't have much room to talk here... I bought my full size spare for about $25, shipped, from an eBay store. You can't find one in a junk yard around here at that price. Given how often I've needed it in my travels, I think it's well worth...
  13. some changes to a '97 grand

    Chrysler Minivan Customized/Modified/Builds
While the red light may be nice, I'm all about a decent steering wheel lock. My generation 3 was stolen out of my apartment parking lot one evening. The only reason I was able to get it back quickly was because the thieves hit a speed bump going too quickly and punched a hole in the...
  14. Interior Bits and Pieces

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I can't speak for the other parts, but I paid $3 and change each for the sun visor clips new from the local dealer. Sure beats a used part that'll break in 40K miles. Why they continue to sell for more than that, used, on eBay, I do not know.
  15. Anyone done anything wild to help fuel economy?

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
Slow down Seriously. When I vacationed in Ontario, and was driving on backroads with lower speedlimits, I had no problem average 30 mpg (2000 Voy, 3.0L). The gas mileage for my van seems to be the best at about 50 mph, although at that speed, the van feels like it isn't moving at all and the...
