Hello

I have a 1997 chrysler mini van, the check engine ligth came on
so i went to autozone and the code they give me is p1698, i read
on this site about the cluster having problems n all the symptoms n those
problems i had but it wasn't that bad, so i fix the solder on the cluster, is the check engine ligth going to go off on its own.

Thank u for your help.

P1698 is not related to the instrument cluster problem you had.

  • P1698 PCM Failure EEPROM Write Denied
  • P1698 -No CCD messages from the Transmission or Body Control Module (TCM or BCM)
Try using a contact cleaner on the connections to PCM, TCM & BCM and ensure they are seated properly.

I have no idea which of those two code versions this could be, but if it is a p1698 "no ccd messages from tcm or bcm" code, it indeed can be due to the instrument cluster problem. If the instrument cluster connector fails, it can take down the CCD bus with it due to the way the signaling works, which will cause the other modules to complain about not being able to talk to each other.
