error code p0404

I have a 2005 GC the im light comes on and goes off in a few days can't find any broken hoses can anyone help

Error Code: P0404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Open Position Performance.

I've read on other forums that this valve can be cleaned...don't really know alot about the EGR though.

Hopefully someone on the board will have the right info you need.

Firstly, do you have an EGR valve? Some do and some don't.
If an EGR valve is in the open position, the idle will be affected.

EGR Valve for the Generation 4s is quite different from the Generation 2s. The site I referenced previously showed the Generation 2 model.
For the Generation 4s, the EGR valve is mounted to the engine block near the alternator. If there is a cover plate there with two bolts holding it on, you have no EGR valve.
