    Heater Fan/ac Blower

I have a 2000 plymouth voyager. I think the heater/ac fan blower is bad. How do I check the motor and then how do I get to it to change it.

http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm Your 2000 should be close to this. To troubleshoot disconnect the blower motor connector and check for 12vdc on the harness connector with the fan switch on high. If you see it, change the blower motor. If it's not there reseat or change the blower relay. These are the two usual problem sources if the blower doesn't work on any speed...unless the fuse is blown. If it works on one or two speeds the resistor block would be a good bet. You can use a test light if you don't have a meter.

I think I can offer some help. I have a 96 GRand Caravan. Over the last several months I noticed the blower for winter heat and summer A/C would sometimes not 'blow' for each of the 5 speed settings on the switch. Fearing the Blower -- or worse -- I finally removed heater / air conditioning interior dash panel (4 screws). Under neath o Found the heater / AC control module. I removed the 5 position fan switch and hooked up the 5 position fan switch to a basic $10 volt-ohm meter (det to DC, etc etc). I found that Sure Enough the 5 position Fan switch would only pass current for the "highest" fan setting. So - That's my story. Right now I'm hoping its only replacing a simply 5 position mechanical Fan switch and nothing more. Maybe you want to confirm the 5 position mechanical Fan switch can pass current ???

The blower motor is probably bad. It is easily accessable from under the passenger side of the dash board. There are, if I remember right, 4 screwa that hold the cover on then 3 screws that hold the fan/bracket into the housing. It is pretty simple to replace. The OEM replacement style is expensive. But there is a universal replacement that you need to splice the wires and drill two new holes in the plastic fan motor bracket. This is fairly easy.

jeff96, I think you may be going in the wrong direction. What usually happens when only the high speed worke is the resistor burnt up. This is not a very expensive part and very easy to replace. I haven't needed to replace one in a 3rd gen van yet but in the 2nd gen van it is under the hood on the passenger side on the firewallnear the hood. It has a multi terminal plug an it and is held in with 2 screws. All it is is a series of resisters wound from wire and put in the blower air path to keep it cool. When one coil breaks you loose all but the high speed on the blower.

Check the resistor block in the front left fire wall.. had fan trouble and found block and rusted though.
