Here's how KIA addressed a corrosion problem: http://www.carcomplaints.com/news/20...rol-arms.shtml
Kia Sedona minivans have been recalled for the second time to fix front lower control arms that can break from corrosion.
Kia recalled the minivans years ago for the same problem and says this latest recall was ordered for lower control arms that were not previously replaced. The recall will also allegedly fix problems with lower control arms that didn't have an adequate application of anti-corrosion coatings during the previous recall.
Kia dealers will replace the front lower control arms in the 2006-2007 Sedona minivans and in 2008-2012 Sedonas, dealers will either replace the front lower control arms or apply extra anti-corrosion coating.
So they do recognize application of additional corrosion protection benefits.

I am aware that it helps but all those parts are 'open' so there is no water+salt staying inside a closed volume!
More than that, most of those parts are so thick that we have to change them way before the rust would destroy them.
All my parts under there are covered in rust but they are still working well... so I think this recall is kind of advertising for them

    From my Chrysler warranty:

The following is not very clear:
Our 2011 corolla had rust on the trunk under the trim panel. Noticed it while washing it one day. I took it to the dealer but rust under the trim panel is not covered by the extended rust warranty that was thrown in when we bought the car.

I took out the trim panel, sanded and repainted the affected area and noticedo the back side of the trim panel was full of mold. Sanded and repainted that and it was as good as new.

At my.work we have a couple corollas within the same.year (2011-2013) and they all have rust in the same spot which leads me to believe that this is a manufacture defect and water is collecting behind that trI'm panel and settling there.
