    Question Perform Service - Reset

Sorry if this has been covered before, I tried to use the search and got "zip".

On our 2003 DGC ES the overhead console is constantly displaying a very annoying "Perform Service" message. I have looked through the manual a couple of times for the secret voodoo dance of button pushing while rubbing my wife's back side and drawn a blank. I know that this can be done because a technician at a dealership rattled of the sequence of events to me one day; however, he said it all so fast that by the time I got to the car to write it all down, I managed to get it wrong. Grrrr.

So, do any of you DC MiniVan gurus know the mystery dance to reset the service reminder?

    Thanks in advance.

Yep you bring it up and hit reset. It is in the manual (at least on my 03)

Ummm, no, that's not it. All that does is momentarily clear the "Perform Service" message, it doesn't reset the 6,000 mile countdown timer to the next occurrence of the message.

    Thanks in advance.

Okay, the solution is in fact in the manual:

    - Press the "MENU" button until Service Interval is displayed
    - With this feature selected, choose an interval between two and six thousand miles using the "STEP" button (Note: make sure you choose something different than the current setting)
    - Press the "MENU" button again, you will then see Reset Service Distance
    - Press the "STEP" button so that "Y" is displayed
    - Press the "MENU" button enough times to bring you back out of the menu mode

I hope this helps any of you DIYers who get annoyed by the Perform Service display.

Yeah, a little embarrasing that. That having been said, I looked several times and it wasn't really obvious. The thing is that in order to reset the indicator you need to change the interval, save it, change it back, and then save it again (with a reset).

It also seems based upon one previous response that I'm not the only person who missed it.

Shipo, you are a newbie here. I was not trying to embarrass you, it is just a standing joke on here about me.

No problem on the shot across the bow, I actually deserved it.

Yeah, I'm a newbie here, however, I'm a fairly well known old grey beard on another forum, ummm, elsewhere, and as such I've grown a fairly thick skin.

Sometimes it's hard to get good information the first time you read the owner's manual. I'll occassionally break out the manual and flip through it, just to skim pages. I always seem to find something I didn't catch before, or remember something about the van that I've forgotten.
