Where is the Cooling Fan Relay Switch Located

I have a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager and my cooling fans are not coming on. I have been told that this is most likely due to the cooling fan relay switch. I cannot find where this switch is located.

There was a recall associated with this. It is on the radiator support on the driver side. Call a dealer I believe it's a freebie.

I have the same problem, let me know what you find out, and I will do likewise.

Called the dealer and they said it is not a recall item. Curious to know what danderson finds out. I have an inherent mistrust of dealerships.

I haven't found the relay yet. I'll get it up on ramps and take another look.

If you crawl on your back looking up just behind the front fascia on the rail below the radiator it is a flat thin wafer held onto the support with one or two 7mm self tapping screws. There was a recall on this. Call another dealer. Its failure can cause fast overheating and engine damage.

Thanks. i chased the wires, took out the air filter housing and it's right there easy to get to. Got the part at O'Reilly's for $43 and installed it. Haven't had a chance yet to see if this will get the fans running again, but I suspect it will.

    Thanks again!

    Recall Item

Agree with everything said thus far. My 96 was covered under a recall for this, and they fixed it for free. I believe that you can punch in your make, model, and year at www.alldata.com to list all TSB's and recalls for your vehicle. Good luck!

I replaced the relay for about $45 and everything works now. My Chrysler dealer insisted it was not a recall item so I did it myself. I went to alldata.com but they wanted money to get the level of detail I needed to find out if it was a recall item.

    Thanks All!

You should be able to locate any outstanding recalls here, using your VIN number:

CHRYSLER - Recall or Customer Satisfaction Notification Information

Some 3rd generation vans did have a recall pertaining to the fan relay.

Side note: I thought there were two fan relays in those vans?

I went to the site and requested by email recalls issued prior to 1999. Very helpful.

The relay I replaced has wires going to both motors for my fans and both are running.

    Thank ya!
