    Body Control Module?

Any one here had theirs replaced? At least I think that is what the dealer called it. It is the module that controls the automatic doors, remote key functions and such.
I was getting out of the van yesterday and when I opened the door the radio did not turn off. I closed the door, turned the key to Acc and removed it and then the radio turned off when the door opened. I then hit the drives side sliding door switch and it did not work. The remote did not work at all. I had to lock it and then unlock it manually. It then started working, but my check engine light was on. I did the code check, but did not write the #'s down.
Brought it to the dealer and they said it was the module, but it would be 2-3 days till it comes in.

Yes, the same things happen to my mom's 2005 Town and County. They were on vacation in Texas from California. The same thing check engine light came on the automatic doors did not work also the Miles to empty on the over head computer read zero after she just filled it up. It also took a few days to get the part, though the dealer let her keep the van until the part came in. It ran fine. That was in August and no problems since.

I just had mine replaced on my 02 GC eX. Had around 45k miles on it. The back door wouldn't open via remote/button on console. The sliders acted up once around the time the back door completely quit. No check engine light or other issues other than the door. The dealer had it a week, BUT...it was right at new years and it took longer to get the part in b/c of that. It was covered under warranty b/c we had a previous complaint on the door. So far, so good...no other issues.

err, how much does it actually cost for the BCM. I am a little nervous now after reading this. I have not had any problems, other than the flickering lights issue. This is not BCM related I believe.

I will ask tomorrow when I get mine done.
I know is is a special order part. I'm not even sure if you can buy it yourself from the way the service writer was talking.

I also forgot, mine also did the MTE and MPG blanked out on the overhead console, but the data came back when it started working.

I had mine replaced, but that was because the Best Buy installer spliced some wires into it, then yanked them out and shorted it in the process. So I didn't pay for it.

I have had some issues with the BCM on the '92, but they've always been solved by unplugging the battery and reconnecting it after a few minutes. And yes, this was what the dealer recommended we do before worrying too much about it.

There is no sense in getting nervous and/or loosing sleep over this. There are THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of these vans built and in that amount of vehicles there will be some prolems. That does not mean YOU will have those problems, however you may. WHY WORRY about something you have no control over and especially something like this that does not DISABLE the vehicle and leave you stranded. There are many other thing out in the world that are more important to worry about, not that you should worry about them. WORRY makes you OLDER.

Plus all vehicles today have a BCM or some such item. Just as likely to fail in any vehicle.
