How do you get into the "hump" above the instrument cluster to simply change the Check Engine Light bulb.
Will it be necessary to remove the entire instrument cluster and board to get to hidden screws or does the "hump" simply pry off. I don't want to break any clips by forcing anything. Thanks in advance for any help.
MESSAGE CENTER
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative
cable.
(2) Using a trim stick (special tool #C-4755) or
equivalent, gently pry up on the front side of the
message center and lift out of instrument panel open-
ing.
(3) Disconnect the wire connector from the back of
message center.
(4) Remove message center from vehicle.
NOTE: If the message center lamp needs replacing,
twist out defective bulb socket and replace with a
known good bulb and socket.
INSTALLATION
(1) Connect the wiring connector to message cen-
ter.
(2) Place message center in position on instrument
panel and firmly snap into place.
(3) Connect battery negative cable.
Yes I do want it to go out but not like this. Anyone want to buy a bad bulb cheap let me know. Thank you for your help. I'll try to accomplish the removal later in the week since today is mothers day!
I got impatient so I took a small pry bar and a piece of cardboard to protect the dash, lifted gently and the clips popped out easily. I replaced the bulbs with replacements I had ordered from "Light Spectrum Enterprises" that I found on the web. Very reasonable replacement price. Thanks again.
Now to figure out what's causing my check engine light. :thumb:
