    2000 T&C with 3.3 - IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE - CLEAN OR REPLACE ???

    Hi,

I am pretty sure the Idle Air Control Valve needs to be replaced/cleaned.

    Chrysler Part # 4861099AA

Dealer wants about $70 for the part.

Should I just replace it, or is it possible to take it apart and clean it?

I would like to do this ONCE and not have to babysit it again in the near future !!!!

Any and all comments are always welcome.

    Thanks in advance,
    George

If it were me I would try and clean it before I put down $70. I generally try the cheapest fix first to make sure I am not changing expensive parts just for the sake of changing them out.

Well, I REPLACED it with a Brand New Mopar, but the idle STILL fluctuates !!!!

When I took out the old one, I wiped out the hole with a dry paper towel and got a lot of soot.

Since I couldn't see in the hole because of the angle, I was afraid to spray anything in there to do a better cleaning job.

    ANY IDEAS ????

    Thanks,
    George

dry paper towel won't clean anything where oil, tar, varnish & fine particulate deposits accumulate (other than potentially leaving pieces of itself and causing more problems..)

The TB should be removed and thoroughly cleaned, inc. IAC - using a 'sensor safe' TB cleaner with scour pad & brush making sure to clean the edges of the plate and all crevices.. (this is also a good time to check for wear/damage)

idle flux can be caused by many things, vacuum leaks and sensor/wiring/connector problems among them...
