    Spare Tire winch

Has anyone found an alternative to the dealership for a replacement spare tire winch? $144 seems a bit pricy, so there has to be an alternative out there!!

    Thanks.

When I looked around last year, I ended up at the dealer too, except that it was more than $144 for me then...

Unless I install a gate tire carrier like you would on a Ramcharger or Blazer, it's off to the dealer I go! My wife isn't into the 4x4 look.

    Thanks.

Just to clarify, the compact spare winch you list is for vans with the tire in the rear (2001-2004 and some 2005s), correct?

Yes, I have a 2001 Chrysler T&C. That is what I have the parts books for.

I do not have stow-and-go in this van.

I originally had the compact spare and replaced it with a full size spare.

I did not need to replace the winch. It fits in fine.

I'm not surprised. Actually what I am surprised about is that there are two different part numbers. You would think they would just have one, since while you are using the compact spare, the logical place to store the damaged tire is... on the winch!
