Can someone please point me to instructions on how to remove the overhead console on a 4th gen? There's a single sheetmetal screw/washer above the sunglasses holder door. I removed that and the back of the console was loose, and separate from the headliner. However, it's still attached towards the front somewhere. It feels loose, like it's just connected to the headliner in the front. It doesn't feel like it's screwed to the body structure anymore with this one screw removed.
However, it doesn't want to come out, and the last thing I want to do is ruin the headliner. I'm trying to fix the broken passenger map light that Michael is also having problems with (but has a warranty to cover it :thumb: ). Even if I do have to purchase a new bulb or lamp housing or whatever it is, I'd prefer to do the labor myself anyway.
This is from the 2004 Service Manual. I hope it helps.

Thanks for the help! I really need to get a service manual for this van...
I wonder if anything changed between '03 and '04? The screw on mine is what I would call the "rear" of the console, not the front as they call it. But since I have just the one visible screw in mine, I've gotta think that the "front" of the console is held on simply by clips at that point.
Here is the instructions for the 2002 mini van. They are NOT different from the 2004. Sorry I don't have the 2003 book.

Jason, please let us know if you find the front is the back and the back is the front...or whatever. I don't anticipate removing mine, but it would be nice to know.
:ask_wsignI am curious. If I am able to obtain an overhead console that has the trip computer in it, would it be a plug-and-play swap out with an existing console that doesn't have the trip computer but just the temperature and direction display? I understand the limit of the switches for the sliding doors and hatch release (since our 2001 only has one automatic sliding door, getting a console with the extra switches will NOT make the other door or hatch open, since they are not wired or powered). I'm just wondering if a trip computer and fuel mileage computer upgrade will work with the existing wiring or not.
If you already have Temp & compass display, an EVIC (aka: trip computer) console should plug in. The Homelink buttons should be programmable, as well. Power door/hatch buttons will not function without the hardware.
My 2006 Caravan doesn't have a console - just map lights. Does anybody know how to remove that so I can see if the wiring is inside? I'm guessing I just pull it down because it's not long enough for the screw in the sunglasses holder.
