    Overhead Console Removal

    Oh 4th gen gurus:

Can someone please point me to instructions on how to remove the overhead console on a 4th gen? There's a single sheetmetal screw/washer above the sunglasses holder door. I removed that and the back of the console was loose, and separate from the headliner. However, it's still attached towards the front somewhere. It feels loose, like it's just connected to the headliner in the front. It doesn't feel like it's screwed to the body structure anymore with this one screw removed.

However, it doesn't want to come out, and the last thing I want to do is ruin the headliner. I'm trying to fix the broken passenger map light that Michael is also having problems with (but has a warranty to cover it ). Even if I do have to purchase a new bulb or lamp housing or whatever it is, I'd prefer to do the labor myself anyway.

    Thanks!

This is from the 2004 Service Manual. I hope it helps.

    (2) Remove the overhead console retaining screw,
located in the front of console.

overhead console and pull straight down evenly to
disengage the two snap clips at the rear of the unit.
    (4) Lower the overhead console far enough to
    access the wire harness connectors.
    (5) Disconnect the EVIC, CMTC or CT electronic
module and the reading/courtesy lamps electrical
    connector.
    (6) Remove the overhead console from the vehicle.
    INSTALLATION
    (1) Position the overhead console in the vehicle.
    (2) Connect the EVIC, CMTC or CT electronic

Thanks for the help! I really need to get a service manual for this van...

I wonder if anything changed between '03 and '04? The screw on mine is what I would call the "rear" of the console, not the front as they call it. But since I have just the one visible screw in mine, I've gotta think that the "front" of the console is held on simply by clips at that point.

Hey, thanks for confirming! If the instructions for '02 and '04 agree, the '03 has just gotta be the same.

That would be my assumption also.

Jason, please let us know if you find the front is the back and the back is the front...or whatever. I don't anticipate removing mine, but it would be nice to know.
