    Help! Codes P0442 + P0455

It started out for awhile I had code P0442 only. After about a year, I re-checked and now have both P0442 & P0455. I took my van to my mechanic and he went after it using the smoke machine, first from the engine end of the system then from the filler on the tank. He found no visible leakage. This troubled us because the P0455 is supposedly a large leak.

Is it possible that something else has occurred in the system that trips these codes? We have cleared the codes they come right back on starting the engine!

Here's a short video of the smoke check on a 2002 caravan with the P0442 and P0455 codes. Maybe the mechanic missed something: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSn0ljUS6kI

thanks RIP - my mechanic (not a dealer) did a smoke test and found P0455 to be a rusted fuel filler neck. Neck was rusted way up top near the actual fill point. I paid him 80 bucks to diagnose and I bought the part from a dealer for 180 to fix. Dealer had the neck in stock and the junk yard was out of stock leading me to believe that this might be a common problem. New fuel filler kit comes with attached piping and small reservoir in addition to the rubber hose that fits to the gas tank and a new gas cap. Replacement was very easy through the wheel well. Those finger removeable vent hoses are vunderbar.
