Radiator fan not working after Replacing Relay

Almost overheated one day cause fan wasnt working. Checked continuity on 40AMP fuse with my DVOM and it checks out good. Replaced relay with this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...SA%3AUS%3A1123

Fan still not working after turning on A/C. I jumped the Green and Gray wire at the relay harness and the passenger fan came on but not the driver side one. What am I missing?

    Any help appreciated!

I wonder if your fans are bad. The fans are wired together so if one comes on (given enough power is available?) the other will be right with it.

I was thinking the same thing. If one is on, the other should run as well. I havent driven yet to the point where the PCM commands the fans on since replacing the relay. Probably should've done that first.

Don't delay. If that fan is bound up it could draw to much current through the circuit and fry the relay. Spin it by hand. It should turn freely.

Both of my gen 3 fans are working properly and the fan on the left side turns ON with the coolant sensor and the fan on the right side turns ON with the A/C
I don't think they're both wired together, or are mine the only ones that do this?

Great. Finally drove it today and I just got a P0118 (Coolant Temp Circuit High Input)and P1491 DTC. Im guessing the new relay got toasted. Fans didnt work.
Also, I checked the feedback for the ebay seller I bought from and it looks like a number of buyers for that relay returned them back to the seller.

Must be different designs. I have good experience with the fans as I retrofitted a spare set of 3rd gen fans onto my GTO in my sig. The fans were wired together and come on at the same time. Also when watching my van, both come on at the same time. There were slight design changes between the 96-97 and 98-00 vans.

I believe the fan assembly is the same part for all years, with motors connected in parallel and a single plug.
Maybe someone had done some re-wiring.

Theres a plug harness going to each fan on my 97.

Anyone ever tried replacing the motor itself? Found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123
