ABS wheel speed sensors changed but ABS light still ON

It's all in the title ! LOL

I went to my buddy the other day who has the scanner and it was saying the both wheel sensors in the back needed to be change. So I just changed both sensors, but the light is still ON. I cannot go see my buddy because he's out of town. Can I do something to make the light goes OFF ??

The ABS should reset itself, but have you tried unhooking the battery for a few minutes? Or the wiring to the rear sensors is damaged.
Candy the van. '98 Sport 3.8L 132,200 miles. Used trans at ~96k. Great piece of my life and a fine van.

Nope, I didn't think about unhooking the battery. I don't know about the wiring, the scanner told "LR ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Failure" and " LR ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Undervoltage".

I recently had issues with my rear wheel ABS sensors. Took it to a local garage, they scanned it as the LR. So I replaced it. Light still on. So I took it back to them and they said that there was a problem now with the RR. The RR had already been replaced under warranty, so the original diagnosis of the LR made sense. So in the end, I don't know if it really was the left or right. I just paid them to do the RR (so if the light was STILL on, it'd be on them), and that fixed it. Maybe it was both. Unfortunately, the only part they could get was a Mopar part, which I wasn't interested in using, but that's all that was available.

According to the service manual, the ABS light will clear after all sensors register 15 MPH. If the light is still on, there's still a problem somewhere.

I am beginning to wonder if the ring on the hub may be at the root of some of these problems. I have a similar problem that causes the ABS to come on and off sporadically, factory scanner said left rear was bad, but I cleaned and greased it and it worked for a while. Something else is going on. I wonder if worn bearings can cause enough wobble to cause such weirdness.

My rear wheel bearings seem fine ! I checked both of them and I don't see any wooble or something else wrong with them.

I'll need to put the scanner on again !!

    Hi from the UK.

I just changed a faulty front ABS wheel sensor on my 2001 chrysler voyager, I posed a thread earlier this year explaining how to test the sensors. Anyhow the new sensor cost me $36 from Ebay (USA) and when I fitted it the light went off after approx 1/4mile of driving. That was three months ago and it's been off ever since.

I doubt the problem is with your tone wheel (the bit on the driveshaft) the rears are inside the hub and well protected from the elements, the fronts can get corroded though. Most likely a broken wire some where.

Unplug the suspect sensor with the ignition turned on and one of the wires should have approx 9V DC supply to the sensor (measured to the chasis ground)

    Good luck

If there's no voltage going to the sensors, what could it be now ??

I had a wire to my rear passenger side that broke causing the light to go on. The wiring was under the front wheel well cover according to the dealer mechanic. Might want to check that.
