way more than that. if i knew where you were, I have a 1998 3.8 with 80,000 miles forsale.
but you can use for sure any 1996-2000 3.8. you might have to do some wire harness swapping but that's it. Do NOT use a 3.3 since the PCM is not calibrated for that displacement. you will likely have driveability problems and check engine light issues. there's a lot of differences in 01 and newer... I'd avoid that because of unknow compatability issues.
Not to hijack, but has anyone swapped out a Mitsu 3.o for a 3.3 or a 3.8?
Obviously, the electronics are different, but are the mounting points the same?
all the same for physical frame anchor points... but its A LOT of work that will not offset any gains. Besides you must change the transmission too. BTW have you ever tried to remove the PCM on a gen3? it's a real bugger.
