Yeah, when you start it up, it'll quickly "flash" to 1500-2000 RPM or so, then quickly drop down to 1100-1200. Hot idle should be about 600-700 RPM or so.
Colder temps can make it flare higher than normal.
I know lots of the diesel guys are freaked out because their trucks are idling at 1000-1200 rpm when cold when their used to 800 rpm idle speed.
It's just due to the colder than normal winter some places are getting.
Their trucks always had that feature they just never got that cold before.:biggrin:
