This part is on National Back order by over 6000!!! No one can tell me when it will be in- has anyone else had problems with their EGR and can tell me how long it took to get the part???

This is true. I drive a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with the 3.8 for a rehab clinic. The cel came on and the codes were 404 and 406, egr valve. Went to my bosses mechanic and he verified they are indeed back ordered. Took about a month to get but in the meantime, the cel went off, the codes went away and the gas mileage returned to normal.
I found on youtube a lab that took an egr valve apart and determined it was the electrical connections the good bad.
Oh yeah, the egr valve was replaced but it is located on the right rear of the engine, not near the water pump like on the older vans. Tough spot to get at.

In my case, it is the company van and the egr is located on the right rear of the engine, not near the water pump. Bad spot to get at. But I did see a video on you tube done by a lab that took one apart and determined it is the electrical connections that are failing. Since it wasn't my personal van, I didn't feel the need to try a repair myself.
