GREENVILLE, S.C. (CP) - Tire maker Michelin is recalling 6,500 tires in the United States and Canada because of sidewall blisters that may cause wheel imbalances and blowouts.
The affected tires, including fewer than 400 sold in Canada, are Pilot Sport models designated 255/35ZR20 97Y extra load, sold in the aftermarket and as original equipment on some Jaguar XJ8 sedans.
The recall decision "was taken after Michelin's internal quality control system indicated that the tires do not meet its quality standards," the company said Thursday.
It added that the condition has caused no reported accidents or injuries in North America.
Replacement tires are available at no charge through Michelin tire dealers.
