Nov. 6, 2000 — Ford Motor will recall about 430,000 Ford Mustangs dating to 1994 because of a parking brake problem. The recall will affect model year 1994 to 2001 Mustangs with manual transmissions. A Ford spokesman says the parking brake can sometimes slip, causing the car to move. The company isn't aware of any accidents or injuries connected to the brake, the spokesman says. Ford will send letters to Mustang owners notifying them of the recall and what procedure to follow to get the car repaired in late November. Until then, owners should engage the brake and put the car in first gear when parking it.
